It was back in June when I decided that I was fed up with all the information on how to make money online. I was tired of being bamboozled, tricked, and lied to about how to make money using my computer and working from home. So when I landed on the Wealthy Affiliate website, I was skeptical. I had been burned before.

The first thing that struck me was that there had to be a catch to it. How could the website owners be giving away personal mentoring, an 8 week tutorial, web-hosting, website building tools, and keyword research tools all for just $30 a month? There just had to be a catch. In addition, the email that had led me to this page had promised an active forum where more experienced members could help me out any time I had questions.

For years I had been dreaming of being my own boss, free from daily commutes, corporate rules, and long hours for low pay. I had also spent 2 years online searching to create my own profitable website business -- only to be disappointed time and time again.

Now, here I was faced with a website that claimed to be a complete internet marketing university, where I could learn how to be a prosperous affiliate. Could I really get rich and live the internet lifestyle simply by using some radical new marketing methods to make a commission from other people's products?

Comforting myself with the thought that I could unsubscribe and get my money back if I didn't like the Wealthy Affiliate membership site, I pulled out my credit card...and took the risk.

What made me sign up? The copy on the website spoke about how it was not easy to make money online and how it took hard work. They also did not promise instant riches. This absence of hype, this uncensored realism, made me inclined to believe that maybe, just maybe, they had the answers I was looking for in my quest to break free from the rat race.

Since I'm still here at Wealthy Affiliate, you've probably correctly guessed that the owners, Kyle & Carson, did not disappoint me. The first month, I was slightly overwhelmed by how much information they offered on the website. Besides the 8 week training, there were additional beginner, intermediate, and advanced level tutorials, ebooks, case histories, and videos. When I did have questions, either Kyle or Carson answered them.

The forum turned out to be a really lively place, too, and I found myself spending a lot of time reading the "stickies." These were forum posts that were so informative about marketing techniques that the members had voted that they be permanently kept to educate new members. These "stickies" were often case histories of those who were guided to make profitable marketing campaigns. People starting from scratch were shown how to create campaigns that made money, sometimes a lot of money.

Besides the "stickies," there was also a sub-forum where people reported their sales and what they did to achieve them. In addition, there were forums on different aspects of marketing, from how to write articles to how to set up a Google AdWords campaign.

Should you choose to follow my lead, you'll notice something rather startling and amazing when you join. It's called the Wealth Counter. This is where those who have made affiliate sales add the amount they've earned. Right now, as of today, it stands at a staggering $2,325,612.06!

If that doesn't make your blood rush, I'm not sure what will get you enthused about your potential to make money online.

However, here Toshiba take this to the next level with the Portege R500 SSD. If you think you know 'ultraportable' laptops, then this should be classified as an ultraportable 'ultraportable'!

1. Overview

When this machine launched last year it weighted 2.4 pounds, however, Toshiba have been making a few tweaks, and by ditching the optical drive, have produced an ultra lightweight laptop. It does come with a 64GB SSD drive, although you have the option of adding an optical drive if you wish. Adding to the weight saving is a smaller three cell battery, instead of the previous six cell version.

2. Design

The R500 SSD is a very contemporary looking machine; its hollow magnesium frame feels like a dummy model, rather than a fully working laptop. However, the wafer thin screen still succumbs to the same serious flexing issues as that of its predecessor - you will find that it bends alarmingly easily.

3. Display

The Portege R500 SSD managed to squeeze a 12-inch LED widescreen display into its slender case. The screen is not as bright as some of the competitors machines, and did appear to be quite washed out no matter what the lighting conditions where like. However because of it's dimensions, the Toshiba is better suited to being carried in small bags.

4. Keyboard and Other Controls

You will find three USB ports, and also an SD slot and a FireWire port to round out the connectivity options. 5. Battery Life

The most common of today's viruses are transmitted through email. These viruses look through the address books of their infected hosts, select a random subject heading and send as many infected emails as possible to those addresses. Therefore you can see that a virus may be received from a friend, showing that it is prudent to investigate all emails that you receive before opening them.

NOTE: Microsoft does not send emails to its users with files for updates attached. Do not be fooled by this. Only update your system from the Microsoft website.

Update your virus software regularly

You must have virus software. If you don't then you should purchase it. It will save you time and money in the long run. The software that we use the most frequently is Norton Antivirus. We have found this software to be perfect for both home and corporate users although the corporate edition is best for a larger number of computers.

Once you have antivirus software installed you must update it on a regular basis. Virus writers are prolific and new viruses appear all of the time. Spyware is a type of software that monitors which sites you are browsing on the internet and sends this information to a central store. This is then used for marketing purposes. Adware is software that contains invasive advertising which makes adverts pop up as you are browsing the internet. The software is usually clever enough to pop up an advert that matches the subject of the web page that you are reading. Both spyware and adware are invasive software that impinges on your personal privacy. The removal software allows you to get rid of this invasion.

A link submission form is the easiest way to exchange links online. All you have to do is enter your website information and the reciprocal link URL. After submission, your link exchange can be completed within minutes (but usually the next day or sometimes even in a week or a month).

As you can see, this is a default (but slightly modified) template for the page with a link submission form. The question is - What text string in this template will be common for ALL of LinkPartners' powered directories? The answer is - "Please also suggest my link to the LinkPartners.com Directory."

We can use the same trick with Link Machine's powered directory. In this case, the common text string is - "Powered By LinkMachine".

So, for example, if you want to find all websites related to coffee and powered by LinkPartners, just open Google and search for: "intitle:coffee" +"Please also suggest my link to the LinkPartners.com Directory."

Why enter "intitle:coffee" instead of just "coffee"? A website with "coffee" in the page title can be much more relevant to your subject compared to a website where "coffee" can be found just 1 or 2 times on the page.
